Based in San Francisco, Laela is Managing Partner at CapitalG, Google’s growth equity investment fund.  She has invested in some of the world’s most consequential companies, including Stripe, Duolingo (DUOL)

Prior to that, Laela served as Director of Emerging Businesses for Google and was responsible for the strategy, operations, sales and marketing of new 'location based services' for business and mobile commerce.

Laela is a 2001 Mitchell Scholar.  She received a Master's Degree in Multi-Media Systems from Trinity College Dublin.  While in Ireland Laela worked with Amnesty International and helped manage the Artists for Amnesty program which sought to engage artists in raising awareness of and support for Amnesty's human rights initiatives.  She remained in Ireland for an additional year and interned with the Irish Government in the Department of Public Enterprise on a project aimed at improving technology access in underserved areas.

Laela plans to continue working with Google and in time would like to combine her interest in technology with her interest in social entrepreneurship, bringing projects to life that use technology to help bring economic growth and social benefits to communities.

Laela obtained her undergraduate degree from Harvard.
