Julia is an Assistant Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School. After finishing her pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, Julia started a position on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital as an anesthesiologist. She gives anesthetic care to both children and adults. Her research focuses on racial/ethnic disparities in pediatric pain management.
While at Yale New Haven Hospital, Julia became interested in the history of anesthesia and has published in this area.
She is a 2002 Mitchell Scholar. She received a Master's Degree in Classics from Queens University, Belfast; her thesis was on the work of Belfast poet Michael Longley and his use of Homer to explore the Northern Irish conflict. During her time as a Mitchell Scholar, Julia was very involved in the Jewish community of Belfast and spent a lot of time exploring the countryside and cities of Northern Ireland. Her time as a Mitchell Scholar heightened her interest in cross-disciplinary work. Julia also holds a BA summa cum laude in Classics and Afro-American Studies from Harvard and a MD from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Julia obtained her undergraduate degree from Harvard.
