Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Hal is a Partner in Gordon & Rees. Prior to that he was a Shareholder at the McNair Law Firm, and before that he was an Associate at K&L Gates. The primary focus of Hal's work is labor and employment law and litigation. Hal is a 2003 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Geographical Analysis from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. During his scholarship year, Hal interned at Temple Bar Properties, a property development company based in Dublin. His thesis research examined the company's interactions with government when trying to redevelop the Temple Bar region of Dublin, an area serving tourists, the business community, the arts and culture community and the general public. Following the completion of his year as a Mitchell Scholar, Hal attended Yale Law School
where he was Managing Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law. Hal will continue to develop his career with K&L Gates, working at the intersection of employment and healthcare. As the United States undergoes a period of great transition in healthcare brought about by the Affordable Care Act, Hal's goal is to continue to grow his expertise in the field and help clients navigate the continually changing landscape. Hal obtained his undergraduate degree from Furman University.
