Ben is a 2006 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ulster in Derry. Ben is interested in conflict resolution and the Northern Ireland conflict was a major focus of his studies. The US-Ireland Alliance helped Ben secure an internship with Mark Durkan, leader of the SDLP party at his Derry constituency office. During his internship Ben organized a civil rights conference for local school children with speakers from Ireland and the United States. He took what he learned in Ireland to Sri Lanka and worked with organizations dedicated to peaceful conflict resolution. Moving forward, Ben seeks to continue combining his passion for conflict resolution with his legal expertise and knowledge of international trade. Ben obtained his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
