Education

Carie is Senior Director of Design and Innovation at the KIPP Foundation. The foundation supports a network of one hundred and forty one schools across the country working predominantly with students from low-income communities. Carie is focused on identifying and sharing best practice across the network through a variety of channels including training programs, workshops, conferences and online platforms. Carie is a 2006 Mitchell Scholar. She received a Master's Degree in Irish History and Politics from the University of Ulster, Derry. During her scholarship year, Carie worked for Habitat for Humanity in North Belfast where she pieced together a history of the organization's efforts in the North in preparation for an anniversary. Carie's experiences in Northern Ireland strengthened her belief in the importance of education not just for the individual student, but for the impact that student's education has on the entire community. Carie loves the work she is doing with the KIPP Foundation and is passionately interested in figuring out how to scale successful education initiatives, content and techniques in order to impact the greatest possible number of young people. In time she hopes to share her knowledge and expertise with educational institutions in the wider community. Carie obtained her undergraduate degree from NC State University.
