Adar is a mediator and author whose work has been featured by the New York Times, TED, and MSNBC. He is Co-Founder Emeritus of the Civic Leadership Foundation, a Chicago-based nonprofit empowering young people to become leaders in their communities. He recently co-authored Jimmie Lee and James, a book about two civil rights activists whose deaths were pivotal in the final push toward the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Adar is a 2007 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree, and a PhD, in International Peace Studies from Trinity College Dublin. For Adar, a unique element of the course was the opportunity to explore the historical context of the Northern Ireland conflict alongside faculty members who played a role in the Good Friday Peace Process. Adar has lectured at Harvard University, the University of Chicago, and -- at the invitation of the King of Bhutan -- at Sherubtse University, the Himalayan Kingdom's first institution for higher education. Adar obtained his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College.
