Adam Tart is an engineer at OpenAI, where he works on the infrastructure that powers the company’s inference systems for products such as ChatGPT. His current focus is on building and optimizing the serving stack that delivers large-scale model inference efficiently and reliably. Previously, he co-founded OpenAI’s observability team, creating the systems that collect and analyze telemetry data to help engineers understand and improve the behavior, performance, and reliability of OpenAI’s infrastructure. Before joining OpenAI, Adam spent 13 years at Google, where he was the Tech Lead of a Systems Infrastructure Performance team in the Machine Learning, Systems, and Cloud AI organization. Prior to that, he served as the Uber Tech Lead of Google’s Monarch Query Team, spending about a decade scaling Monarch into one of Google’s largest core systems—a real-time time-series database and query engine that supports Google-wide observability, automation, and analytics. A 2009 Mitchell Scholar, Adam received a master of science degree in Mobile Networking and Computing from University College Cork, and earlier earned a master of science degree in Statistics and a bachelor of science degree in Discrete Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology..
