Tyler is Legal Counsel and VP at Swiss Re in London. He is a corporate insurance lawyer. After his Mitchell year, he completed an accelerated law degree at the University of Edinburgh Law School and has worked ever since as an attorney in London.

Tyler is a 2009 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Human Rights Law from Queen's University, Belfast, focusing on immigration, employment and discrimination law. Tyler's thesis research examined how five different jurisdictions approached asylum applications from LGBT refugees. Tyler interned with the Equality Commission in Northern Ireland where he learned a great deal about the historical context of the conflict and issues of ongoing discrimination in employment based on political opinion and religious affiliation.

A speaker of Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, in the future he hopes to have the opportunity to be involved in some of the international aspects of the firm's business. Tyler also sings with the Chorus at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral.

Tyler obtained his undergraduate degree from Rice University.
