Based in Bethesda, Maryland, José is applying the principles of social entrepreneurship to legal practice. A graduate of Georgetown Law School, he founded The Canto Law Firm in order to pursue his passion for public interest and pro bono work. A litigator, his legal practice comprises family law, employment law, estates and trusts, commercial litigation and criminal defense.

José is a 2009 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Sociology from University College Dublin. While in Ireland José worked as a research assistant to Professor Diana Panke on a project analyzing the political reality facing small states in the EU.

Jose recently celebrated the second anniversary of his law firm and he was recognized by the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service for his efforts to expand access to justice to Spanish-speaking clients in complex family law cases.

Jose obtained his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
