Neil is an LA-based writer/director. He received a Cannes Lions Young Directors Award for his AFI thesis film, FISHMONGER, a supernatural dark comedy set in 19th-century Ireland. The film is also nominated for student Emmy. FISHMONGER had its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest, the United States' most prestigious genre film festival. Neil’s fellow Mitchell Alum, Derick Stace Naughton, is an executive producer on the short. The film won the Grand Prize Winner of the 2021 Slamdance Screenplay Competition. Prior to FISHMONGER, Neil’s work has won accolades in film, theater, and fiction. His stage play, “Fabulous Prizes,” received Critics’ Picks from The Seattle Times, Seattle Weekly, and The Stranger. His music video for Shabazz Palace’s “Shine a Light” was premiered by Pitchfork. His work has been described as “wonderfully surreal” (Sub Pop), “shocking, horrific, and funny” (Rolling Stone), and a “Ph.D testing of what ‘works’ on the human consciousness” (Seattle Weekly). Neil is currently a Directing Fellow at the AFI Conservatory. Neil is a 2010 Mitchell Scholar. He received an M.Phil in Theater from Trinity. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara College.
