Shane is a pediatrician at Door County Medical Center in Wisconsin. He attended med school at the University of Washington and was a resident in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to that, he developed a music therapy class for the Honors College of Montana State University. In his role as Professor, he taught a course exploring the physiological, emotional, cognitive and cultural experience of music. Shane is a 2010 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Music Therapy from the University of Limerick. A two-year taught program, Shane's final project was a multimedia self study of life as an international student comprising poetry, music and visuals. While studying in Ireland he spent a year working with disabled children at a special needs school. He also worked with adults at a dementia care facility as well as participating in initiatives run by Enable Ireland, an organization that offers assistance to the disabled and their families. Shane plans to combine his two passions of music and medicine in a career in pediatrics at a large institution while also serving a network of clinics in underserved rural areas. He is also

interested in public health and wants to work to bridge the gap between medical policy and practice. Shane obtained his undergraduate degree from Montana State University.
