Lieutenant Commander Kyle Krieger is now in Naples, Italy, where he is the Regional Lead for Atlantic Africa at Naval Forces Europe and Africa. Prior to that, he served at the Navy’s Africa Command Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany where his portfolio included Burkina Faso, Mali, and Mauritania. Prior to that he was in Sierra Leone, at the US Embassy in Freetown. After his Mitchell Scholarship year, he was based in Pearl Harbor on board the USS Buffalo, a nuclear powered fast attack submarine before becoming part of the US Navy Foreign Area Officer community.

Kyle is a 2011 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in International Security and Conflict Studies from Dublin City University.

Kyle's studies in Ireland added an important and unique perspective on international conflict of great value to his military career.  Interested to learn how the troubles in Northern Ireland were successfully resolved he had the opportunity to meet and work with people involved in the peace process.
