Major Steven Sifuentes and his family are headed to Hawaii where he’ll be stationed at Pacific Fleet Headquarters as a communication planner. Most recenlty, Steven was assigned as the primary Communications and Information Technology Planner for the 12th Marine Artillery Regiment. In this capacity, Steven overseas the planning and installation of IT systems and services to support information sharing across the Department of Defense and with the United States’ bilateral partners to include Japan, Republic of Korea, Republic of the Philippines, and Thailand. Prior to his current assignment, Steven worked at Headquarters Marine Corps where drove the development of strategic level concepts and future security initiatives to include shaping programmatic investments to support these future concepts. Steven is a 2011 Mitchell Scholar. He received a Master's Degree in Military History and Strategic Studies from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. A graduate of the US Naval Academy, Steven focused his study on the flexibility and adaptability of military forces. While in Ireland, Steven wrote about the challenges faced by the British Army dealing with guerrilla tactics during the Boer War. Steven was invited to speak to Irish peacekeeping forces in advance of their deployment to Lebanon and shared his experiences and insights from his time serving in Iraq. He also volunteered with the Dublin Fire Brigade and worked with D-Watch on fire trucks and with the ambulance service. Steven obtained his undergraduate degree from the US Naval Academy.
