Meghan Hussey provides consulting services for projects and clients advancing social inclusion, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning, in the fields of international development, education, employment, health, and social systems. Prior to that she served as the Inclusive Education Advisor at the USAID Center for Education. Before that, Meghan spent six years on the global youth and education and government relations teams at Special Olympics International. Her career focuses on advocacy and for providing disability-inclusive international development. A 2015 Mitchell Scholar, Meghan received her MSc in Global Health at Trinity College Dublin. Meghan describes her year in Ireland as a “perfect fit” for her academic and professional development given that disability inclusion is a niche field within international development. Her MSc program had faculty that studied disability inclusion internationally and were therefore able to give her guidance based on their first-hand experiences. Beyond the classroom, she had the opportunity to interact with many people and organizations who shared her interests and served as an intern at the Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia Regional office. Meghan says that compared with the U.S., Ireland has many more NGO’s and other aid groups who are focused on or inclusive of persons with disabilities. This gave her a unique experience that she would have been unable to have anywhere else. Meghan obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
