May is the Literary & Community Engagement Assistant at Playwrights Horizons, a theater devoted to new plays by living playwrights. The role was created for May. She’ll be working to make their play submissions process more equitable, and cultivate relationships with writers who historically haven't had access to Off-Broadway theaters.
She previously served as an apprentice to the literary manager at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago.
She was a 2018 Mitchell Scholar and obtained an MPhil in Theatre and Performance.
May wrote and directed plays for Wesleyan’s Theater Department and Second Stage. Her plays were selected twice by the LA-based Blank Theatre Company’s Young Playwrights Festival, a national competition for young writers. She served as an apprentice to the director of an off-Broadway play that was selected as a NYT Critic’s Pick. At Wesleyan, she founded AnyStage, a play development program that provides resources such as table reads and workshop productions for student playwrights. One of her plays was produced at Smock Alley in Dublin.
May obtained an undergraduate degree in Theater from Wesleyan.
