Gil Guerra was recently named as the 2024 Rising Expert in Latin America Policy by Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. He is an Immigration Policy Analyst at the Niskanen Center, where he focuses on migration and foreign policy as well as demographic trends at the U.S.-Mexico border. Prior to joining Niskanen, he completed fellowships with the Aspen Institute, the Hudson Institute, and the Hertog Foundation. He was also previously a senior associate on the Academic Programs team at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). While at AEI, he organized the institute’s first-ever National Student Conference on Hispanic Politics, a conference series that connected hundreds of first-generation, low-income, and Hispanic college students with think tank researchers in DC. His academic work has been featured by the Society for Terrorism Research, and his policy advocacy has been cited in The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Miami Herald, and The Dispatch. Gil earned a Master of Arts in Global Security and Borders at Queen’s University Belfast. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with high honors in Political Science from Swarthmore College.
